KCT applications close, audits soon to come

8 March 2018

This year’s KCT applications have now closed with 658 orchards signing up – an increase of 13% on last year.

“The rise in applications is a positive sign from our perspective. It tells us that the industry is more familiar with the system and application process. It’s also a sign that industry is really catching on to the huge export successes that we’re seeing in the KCT region,” said Nicole Zerveas, Market Development Project Officer at Citrus Australia.

Last year continued the record-breaking streak for citrus exports with 220,754 tonnes of citrus valued at $377 million exported by September. China once again had been the standout performer.

Packhouses registered for the KCT program now await upcoming audits by the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources. It will be important to check over workplans and protocols in preparation for the audits.

The Department will contact packhouses directly my email with specific details and dates. Packhouses are advised to contact the Department immediately if their audit date clashes with the Citrus Market Outlook Forum.
