Tree census data holds citrus insights

8 March 2018

2017 Tree Census data is being processed with interesting findings for the citrus industry. Some preliminary analysis shows:

  • A 16.5% increase in total orchard numbers since 2014
  • A 11.4% increase in total orchard area
  • Average orchard size of ~20 hectares
  • 25% of orchards are responsible for 70% of total citrus planting

The full tree census data will be presented at the Market Outlook Forum by Nathan Hancock and made available to members after the Forum.

A final tree census report with detailed findings and insights is expected to be released at the end of April.
