A leading postharvest researcher from the National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science (NIHHS) in South Korea visited Australia recently and conducted valuable postharvest research and collaboration with NSW Department of Primary Industries.

Hyunjin Choi from the Rural Development Administration (RDA) was in Australia during August to develop linkages to promote and grow trade with research collaboration between Australia and South Korea.

Hyunjin Choi was funded by the South Korean RDA and was based at the Centre of Excellence for Market Access at NSW Department of Primary Industries in Ourimbah.

She also visited orchards and packinghouses in Leeton where Australian citrus is exported to China and South Korea.

Ms Choi worked with Dr John Golding at NSW DPI on common postharvest storage issues for South Korea and Australia for one month and contributed to the outcomes of the Hort Innovation project ‘Australian Citrus Postharvest Science Program’ (CT15010).

Mr Golding said the visit will develop stronger links between South Korea and Australia.
