Chance for growers to visit Japan citrus trade seminars

Citrus growers have the chance to represent the Australian citrus industry in a Hort Innovation-supported visit to Japan.

Selected growers will receive $1,000 each to assist their attendance at trade seminars in Osaka, 24 May, and Tokyo, 25 May, and meet with key Japanese trade customers, including retailers, importers, distributors and food services.

These trade seminars, focusing on oranges, are part of a continued effort by Hort Innovation and Citrus
Australia to promote Australian citrus to Japan, one of the industry’s top markets.

This new approach seeks to put faces to Australian growers and adds a personal touch to appeal to Japanese retailers and importers.

The activity will launch the promotional campaign for this season. Growers will meet face-to-face with Japanese trade customers to build relationships and promote the value proposition of Australian citrus’ provenance.

This is the second year the trade seminars will be run, following their success last year, and on the back of a 14 per cent growth in Australian citrus exports to Japan in the 2017 season.

Interested growers can read the selection criteria and direct questions about the opportunity to Dianne Phan on dianne.phan@horticulture.com.au or 0408 497 798, with expressions of interest due Thursday, 03 April 2018.

Similarly to last year’s seminars (pictured above), key Japanese trade personnel will be in attendance.
