Next week: Queensland Regional Forum at Gayndah

Queensland growers will receive the latest information on crop forecasts, export markets, agrichemicals and Imperials at the Queensland Pre-season Regional Forum, to be held at Gayndah next week.

The two-day event will be held at the Gayndah Arts and Cultural Centre on February 21-22.

The first day will feature representatives from Citrus Australia and the latest information on:

  • Harmonised Australian Retailer Produce Scheme(HARPS) and what it means for growers
  • National citrus post-harvest project – meet the new post-harvest researcher
  • Agrichemicals
  • Crop forecast – short and medium term
  • Fruit quality
  • Export market update

Discussion will include an update on Iprodione permit and its application, tree census (draft report), situation analysis on lemons and Imperials, an update on Indonesian access, and a report on the Queensland Citrus Export Group.

Safety in the work place for growers and their employees will be the focus of the second day.

It will include information on the Injury Prevention and Management program (IPaM), a discussion with Laura Parr of Glengrove Orchard on her experience with the IPaM, and an opportunity to meet with representatives from Work Cover and Work Place Health and Safety.

Ergon Energy will also discuss electrical hazards as there has been an increase in injuries and accidents in the industry.
