Pruning focus at Murray Valley Regional Forum

Iraak citrus grower Darren Minter, Minter Magic, will host the Murray Valley Regional Forum on Wednesday, July 10, and also showcase three pruning trials. Mr Minter has undertaken three trials:

• A radical pruning technique of closely planted trees
• An  aggressive pruning technique trialled for past 20 years
• A pruning technique influenced by the Spanish method

Mr Minter believes all of these techniques have resulted in increased crop load, size and quality.

“Growers shouldn’t be afraid to prune,” Mr Minter said.

The Forum is free of charge to growers and topics include water availability and security; an update on Citrus Australia work on agrichemicals, the Citrus Tree Census, biosecurity, and KCT; and frost prediction and monitoring.
