Citrus Australia Freshcare trainers Nicole Zerveas and Mara Milner said the recent Freshcare training session in Griffith was a great success.

Citrus Australia’s Nicole Zerveas delivers Freshcare training to growers in Griffith.

The Freshcare FSQ4 training took place at Mario’s Packhouse on Thursday, 2 August.

A group of 14 growers and packers attended the training, covering all Freshcare FSQ4 management elements and food safety and quality elements. Particular emphasis was placed on the Rules and Code of Practice.

Growers and grower-packers were taught how to identify and mitigate their risks relating to heavy metals, persistent chemicals, fertilisers/soil additives and pre-harvest water. They were also shown the records and evidence required to meet the Code.

Attendees were provided additional resources and form examples to take back to their business to help with preparation for their external audit.

Additional support is offered to trainees by Citrus Australia trainers in preparation for audit at no extra cost. This can include an on-farm visit for an hour to discuss any questions/issues or gaps requiring attention.
