Are you GS1 DataBar ready?

Are you GS1 DataBar ready?

23 August 2018

GS1 DataBar is the new barcode being applied to loose fresh produce for Coles, Woolworths and Metcash (IGA), with Woolworths now scanning across 100 per cent of their stores. Citrus Australia has begun liaising with these retailers to harmonise the introduction of GS1 DataBar across the industry.

An upcoming Mildura event will place special focus on fresh produce and the GS1 DataBar and how to practically implement the GS1 System or improve its application within your business.

The day will involve two sessions. ‘Learn’ is the first half-day session (morning) and ‘Knowledge’ is the second (afternoon).

The Learn session will introduce the key concepts of the GS1 standards, focusing on the identification of trade items at the retail level and the evaluation of appropriate barcoding options.

The Knowledge session will advance the attendees’ expertise in the numbering and barcoding of trade items and logistic units in the non-retail environment.

Key information required in new fruit stickers:

  • Product colour code alignment
  • Product description
  • Packing facility specific GTIN DataBar
  • Name of packing facility
  • Industry standard PLU numbers
  • Country of origin (if possible)
  • Can include your brand.
