More Freshcare training sessions announced

Updated 22-Jan-2017

As from 1 January 2019, the major Australian retailers will only accept fresh produce that is certified with Freshcare, SQF or GLOBALG.A.P.

In February, March and April 2018, Citrus Australia will be holding Freshcare group training sessions across the Riverland, Riverina and Murray Valley regions. Citrus Australia intends to provide Freshcare group training sessions as required to all regions across the country.

Growers wishing to supply to packers who supply major supermarkets are advised to attend.

Sessions are being held in Renmark, Loxton, Waikerie, Griffith area, Leeton and Mildura. You can see a full calendar below. These sessions will see attendees receive extensive training in Freshcare’s Food Safety & Quality Edition 4 (FSQ4), which was released in June 2016.

Freshcare is an on-farm assurance program that supports Australian growers in fulfilling both domestic and international market requirements. As one of the four base schemes recognised by the Harmonised Australian Retailer Produce Scheme (HARPS), being certified to Freshcare will open the opportunity for suppliers to provide to major supermarkets including Coles, Woolworths and Aldi.

Growers will need to book a Freshcare audit after their training has been completed. Freshcare audits need to be conducted during the harvest period.
Information regarding audit preparation will be supplied at the Freshcare training.

These group training sessions will bring growers up to speed on what they need to do to be certified for Freshcare which is now Australia’s largest on-farm assurance program.

The training sessions include:

  • Freshcare FSQ4 training
  • 1 x Freshcare manual

Sessions will run for 4-5 hours and any necessary stationery will be supplied on the day.

Post-training:

  • Support to assist with  audit preparation as required; on farm or by phone and email.

To register fill out the Freshcare registration form and the CAL payment options form, and provide them to Nicole Zerveas as soon as possible.

Grower registration is $880 (incl. GST). Additional people registered under the same business name costs $100 (incl GST) per extra person.
