Citrus Technical Forum 2017

Citrus Technical Forum 2017

05-Oct-2016

Citrus growers and packers will have the opportunity to discover the latest technology and gain an insight into current research projects at the Citrus Technical Forum, to be held in Mildura on March 1-2 next year.
More than 300 delegates attended the inaugural Forum in 2015.
The two-day event run by Citrus Australia will be a mix of sit-down presentations, workshops and field trips aimed specifically at growers and packers.
Citrus Australia’s CEO Judith Damiani said the event will provide growers and packers with a glimpse into future technologies and provide a platform for researchers to showcase their work.
“The format of the event will encourage growers to participate in a setting they feel comfortable in,” Judith said.
“The forum will also include displays of new equipment, products and services by commercial companies and provide a great opportunity to network. A forum specifically for the packing sector will cover new post-harvest technology and practices.”

Next year’s event will include sessions on:
• Satellite-based remote sensing
• Using robotics to collect and interpret data
• Using netting to improve fruit quality

As well as workshops on:
• Post-harvest technology
• Soil health
• Growing to market requirements
• Advances in pest management
• New technology for post-harvest, future plantings and farm improvements

Field visits will be held at:
• Mildura Fruit Company
• Minter Magic – Darren Minter, Iraak
• Belah Heights – John Hederics, Gol Gol

The two-day event will take place at the Mildura Arts Centre. It is expected to attract more than 300 citrus industry representatives, including growers, packers, marketers, exporters, researchers, government representatives, commercial providers and regional associations.
Various sponsorship opportunities for the event are available, including exhibitor space for those looking to establish or promote their company profile, launch a new product or service, network and develop new partnerships, or join delegates on the field trip events.
